Essay

In the thesis the process of establishment and functioning of Soviet regime in Western Ukraine in 1939 - 1941 is studied. Circumstances, under which the Red Army occupied the territory of Western Ukraine in the September of 1939, are examined; status of provisional government ent bodies ( regions' and districts' adm in istrations and peasant comm ittees is arcertained; course of the election campaign to the People's Assembly of Western Ukraine, procedure of its sessions and voting are analysed; m ethods, which were used to implant the Soviet political system of totalitarian type in Western Ukraine, are elaborated.
