Dushnik V. Traffic calming of city centre roads by traffic flow restraining.

Dissertation is devoted to the elaboration of the method of restraining of traffic flow that approaches traffic calmed areas in the central parts of cities and mega-cities. As a result of the research conducted the technique of the traffic restraining on the approach ends of traffic calmed areas due to changes in traffic signal settings has been developed; recommendations for vehicular traffic speed humps in these areas have been provided; generalized recommendations for the definition of vehicular speed hump in cities have been worded; the pattern of the deformation of traffic flow being out of regulated intersection has been determined. Besides analytical dependence of disintegration of newly formed vehicular group has been worked out to find critical distance between intersections that makes reasonable to introduce into practice their coordination.
