Essay

The history of establishing and developing of social economic, military, political and cultural relations between Ukraine and Bulgaria at the end of XX century has been researched in the dissertation. The author emphasized traditional spheres of collaboration which were at rather high level even in the condition of pragmatic relations. They represent one of the directions of cooperation between eastern and southern Slavonic microethnical groups. This cooperation has been continuing for one thousand years and did not stop when two peoples left their state nations. Revival of Ukraine state at the end of XX century was a great impulse to develop cooperation between two countries. It was elucidated in the dissertation that Ukrainian-Bulgarian relation in the 90th of XX century were deprived of width and multiplicity, which one would like to see in the relations between two brotherhood nations, which had thousand years history. The time showed that neither Bulgaria for Ukraine, no Ukraine for Bulgaria weresuch countries with which they were ready to develop strategic partnership. The author analyzed dynamic of import and export between two countries and found out that they were not changed during that time. The connections between educational and scientific institutions were preserved. Such fields as ecology, biotechnology, marine researching, astronomy were the fields of cooperation between Ukrainian and Bulgarian scientists. Statistic material, used in the research, testified that Bulgarian living in Ukraine preserved their national traditions, cultural and spiritual experience. The process of Bulgarian assimilation with other ethnic groups was poor and depended on the regions where Bulgarians lived, their social and demographic structure. Some national traditions and rituals were transformed and renovated in Ukraine. The material, collected in this dissertation testifies that in the 90th of XX century military-technical cooperation between two countries was very poor. Bulgarian political course was to joinNATO, and partners and providers were in accordance with their belonging to the alliance. Taking into consideration the above-mentioned information, it is possible to state that only perspective fields for bilateral cooperation is military technical cooperation (repairing and servicing military-naval equipment) and also cooperation between Bulgaria and Ukraine with the goal to enter developing countries markets. The analysis of the source of the dissertation shows that the base of regional cooperation between Ukraine and Bulgaria were founded in the researching period. The level of bilateral relations is not considered to be the important part of European regional cooperation system. Solving the problem of equal partnership with European countries, both countries relied on their own power and possibility, but not on integrity and coordination policy. The coordination of efforts in international regional structures between Bulgaria and Ukraine was poor and had episodic character.
