Gereta N. Oikonymy of the Northern Part of Khmelnytska Region

Thesis is an attempt of complex research of the oikonymicon of the northern part of the Khmelnytska region (south-eastern Volyn). The object of research embraces all the settlements and other populated areas which had the status of a settlement (1232 denotates), fixed during the 11-20th centuries in acts, chronicles, lists, reference books, maps etc. The history of settling, dynamics of oikonymic process, derivatives based on oikonyms and genitive forms of settlement names are studied in the dissertation. OIkonymy of the northern part of Khmelnytska region is analysed according to the classifications of three types: as for semantics of word-forming base, as for relations of motivation and as for the structure of word-formation. Appendix comprises a vocabulary of regional oikonyms with some historical and etymologycal information about all the places of settlement.
