Essay

The dissertation deals with an investigation of prosodic structure of the functional style in modern Ukrainian language. For the first time in the Ukrainian linguistics, the dissertation has investigated the features of the scientific and belles-lettres functional styles on the basis of the stress-rhythmical structure of the word and syntagma taking into account the peculiarities of syntagmatic division, the temporary (including pause) characteristics, a variation of the syntagmatic division (a variant reading), a rhythmical structure of syntagma, expressed by the rhythmical figures and the characteristics of the syntagma rhythmic (neighboring syntagmas, text) by the reviewing of the similar rhythmical structures and also the nature of the neighboring syntagmas relation by their length and duration, which creates an original rhythmical contour of the text.
