Essay

Activation of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) was followed with the disturbances of cardiac contractility, tone of the coronary vessels, an increase in an oxygen cost of myocardial work. Inhibitors of the (MPTP) protected the heart from reperfusion disturbances. The registered stable mitochondrial factor, which released in outflowing solution during mitochondrial permeability transition, can be used as the marker of the MPTP activation.
