Essay

Structural age-related changes in ventromedial nucleus (VMN) and lateral area (LHA) of hypotha- lamus were investigated by means of morpho- metry, cytochemistry and immunohistochemistry. Destructive changes developed earlier and appeared to be more distinct in LHA compared to VMN. Emotional-painful stress led to decrease of number of glial cells in both VMN and LHA, whereas the number of neurons remained stable.
