Louchnoy V. Selective value of modern gene pool of winter bread wheat as initial material at selection for grain quality in the North-Eastern Forest Steppe of Ukraine.

Object: peculiarities of expression and inheritance of grain quality indices. Aim: to assess breeding value of current winter bread wheat gene pool, to study the nature of inheritance of grain quality characters, to choose valuable sources and donors. Methods: field, hybridization, laboratory, mathematic-statistic. Novelty: there has been determined a peculiar feature of the expression of technologic characters of grain quality from the origin of variety samples, there have been determined the peculiarities in variation and inheritance of the characters. Results: there have been chosen new sources and donors with high and stable degree of quality characters' expression. Application stage: 9 cultivars and 5 lines are implemented into breeding practice in three scientific institutions; 114 best variety samples - sources for valuable characters have been used to create descriptor collections.
