Essay

The comparative study of laparoscopic (128patients) versus open (182 patients) hernia surgery outcomes proved the benefits of laparoscopic approach. Original technical methods of TAPP were proposed. Indications and contraindications to laparoscopic hernia repair were also defined. There were a reduction in the frequency of postoperative complications and hernia recurrences, shortened period of medical and social rehabilitation in laparoscopic group. Based on biochemical changes of homeostasis, there was proved less operative trauma after laparoscopic TAPP procedure in comparison with open methods of hernia repair.
