Research work is dedicated to the actual problem of colorectal surgery - to improve results of restorative operations on colon by means of identification and practical application criteria to choose appropriate method of renovation of intestinal tract continuity after different types of bowel resections. 376 patients, who undergo restorative surgery, were observed. Based on clinical and functional evaluation of handmade and mechanical anastomoses after right-sided and left-sided colon resections criteria of choice for the optimal method of renovation of intestinal tract continuity were determined. According to the determined criteria practical recommendations for application of up-to-date suture devices were made. The results of the study have been implemented into practical work of the clinical hospitals.
