Voitovych P. Scientific substantiation of the ecological-hygienic requirements for melon cultures growing under conditions of South Ukraine

The dissertation presents a theoretical substantiation and a new solution of a scientific problem related to the growing of melon cultures that would be ecologically pure for an environment and safe for the humans. Determined have been the eological-hygienic requirements for melon cultures growing under conditions of South Ukraine. Regularities of maximal and high quality crop formation have been assessed depending on the growth technologies and fertilizers used, being used in various amounts and their balancing. Specificities of the effects of these technologies on the biological value (dry substances, sugar, pectins, vitamin C, carotene) and food security (contents of nitrates, pesticides and heavy metal salts) of the melon cultures (water melons, pumpkins) has no ill effects on the soil chemical composition. The latter, likewise the chamical composition of water used, cannot be a source of the contamination for grown production. The clinical trial of melon cultures grown according to new technologies has shown the high curative-prophylactic effect in the elderly people with an age-dependent pathology.
