Fedorova O. Bovine thelaziosis in the condition of forest-steppe area of Ukraine (epidemiology, treatment and control)

The subject of research work was cattle of different age naturally infected with thelazia. The aim of investigation was: to study dynamics of bovine thelaziosis prevalence in the condition of forest-steppe area of Ukraine, to conduct the complex for prophylaxis and treatment of bovine thelaziosis. Methods of investigation: helminthological, examination of eyes of slaughtered cattle, laboratorial, bacteriological, entomological, statistical. The scientific novelty: new dates about bovine thelaziosis prevalence, two species of parasites Thelazia gulosa and Th. skrjabini and absence of Th. rhodesi in the area of investigation were established; changes of intermediate hosts species composition was established. New dates about both thelaziosis and microbial associations were established. The efficacy of modern anthelminthics and eye cream "Altel" was studied. Efficacy of insecticide and fly tags "Flectron" to prevent cattle from attacks of flies was investigated. The branch of use is veterinary medicine.
