Rudenko M. Narrative structure of the artistic prose by M.Khvylovy.

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of narrative structure of artistic prose by Mykola Khvylovy. The main attention is paid to the ascertainment of the general conformities of narrative strategy of artistic prose by M.Khvylovy within the limits of such levels of narrative structure as narrative discourse, typology of hero and intertextual interrelations of the texts. Because of this it has become possible to expose individual peculiarities of artistic style of narrative in the works by M.Khvylovy. The investigation of narrative typology of artistic prose by M.Khvylovy created the opportunities to have a new look at the complex process of artistic communication in the 20's of the 20-th century. In order to realize the research of the structurecreating reasons of the narrative discourse in the works by M.Khvylovy the dissertator uses G.Genette's methodology of textual analysis of fiction. On the basis of four-membered typology of narrators by G.Gennette the types of narrators are classifiedand the specification of their functioning in the writer's works is observed. Having analyzed the text by Ukrainian writer the dissertator concludes the main tendencies in the artistic movement of that period: modernistic and avant-garde. Each of them in the text by M.Khvylovy was confirmed in its own way: the first one with the help of inner focalization, the latter - with the help of explicit narrator. The avant-garde aesthetic conception was implied in such explications as appearance of the fictive author of the text, complicated narrative structure, activation of the reader's instance. Artistic world is given as beforehand fictional that together with the narrator do not apply for probability and autonomy. A special attention is paid to the ascertainment of the general characteristics of the hero in the artistic prose by M.Khvylovy in the paradigm of binary opposition between neurotic and schizophrenic discourses. This opposition is described on the basis of the conception of the man of mass contradictedto the man of minority. The main form of boundary situation for the hero as the representative of the man of mass in the narrative by Khvylovy is confirmed to be various types of psychological neurosis. The general form of boundary situation according to the context of the world of absurd is limited by the symptoms of escape into the world of inner "I", the most idealistic one, explained by the features of schizophrenic discourse. Intertextual structure of artistic narrative by M.Khvylovy is investigated on the basis of hard analysis of its interrelations with the texts of other writers of previous epochs. This analysis concerns different levels of narrative structure. It means that intertextuality is observed on the basis of comparative analysis of traditional images, genres, stylistic forms in the text by Khvylovy and other writers and in the text by Khvylovy himself (autotextuality). Besides this, intertextuality is examined within the limits of paratextuality, the means of expressing author's intention. Variations of functioning of smb. else's word entirely correspond to author purpose, they serve for excretion of concealed meanings, which appear just on the verges of linear and intertextual readings of prose by M.Khvylovy. The suggested methods are confirmed with the concrete textual analysis considering style dominants of author's narrative. The principal results of the work are tested in publications and may be used in educational practice and the scientific research of Ukrainian literature.
