Tkachenko R. Decadence as a problem of author's consciousness in the Ukrainian literature of the end of the XIXth.

The thesis is dedicated for study of art, literary and critical forms of the Decadense reception in the Ukrainian literature on the verge of the XIX - XXth. centuries. In this aspect, an especial attention is paid for V.Stefanyk, A.Krymskyy, O.Plyushch's works, whose creative consciousness is marked by personnaly experienced spirit of Decadense and enriched by reflexivity. An important role in the Ukrainian literary process of "the end of the century" was played by I.Franko's moderate position that combined a sympathy for art innovations with an ethical and personalistic tendency. The author analyzes also such problems as the Ukrainian Decadense pre-conditions, its essential features as a cultural and intellectual phenomenon, art tendency, the problem of Nietzscheanism considered as a form of Decadense self-consciousness, prospects of Decadense interaction with the aesthetics of Modernism.
