Essay

Object of research: "person-vehicle-traffic environmen" system. The purpose of research: estimation method development of highway capability subject to driver behavior regularities and road traffic organization. Methods of research: system approach, system analysis methods, information theory methods of mathematical statistics, special psychophysiology and psychological methods. Equipment: running laboratory, telecamera, videorecorder, devices for study of functional conditions of a driver, PC. Theoretical and practical results: The model and the estimation method of highway capability with two lanes. Subject to driver behaviour regularities and traffic flow organization have been developed. It is proved that the choice of traffic velocities and distances between vehicles depends on the least psychological compulsion principle. Methods of highway capability definition on existing highways are proposed. The methods proposed in the thesis allow to improve definition accuracy of a capability value to 12percents in comparison with existing methods. Novelly of results: The new approach to highway capability estimation has been developed. The influence of activity motivation and information characteristics of the driver perception, field on the choice of traffic velocities, distances between vehicles and a highway capability value has been proved. The estimation method of the highway capability subject to driver behaviour regularities has been developed. A degree of introduction: The developed methods of highway capability definition have been introduced into research institutes ZAO "Kharkovsky Promtransproekt" and "Kharkovgiprodor" for estimation of design solutions on a highway of Belgorod-Akhtyrka, as weu as for the substantiation of solutions in developing reconstruction projects, overhaul and traffic organization projects on highways of Kiev - Kharkov - Dovzhansky and Kharkov - Simferopol. Field of application: designing and reconstruction of highways, traffic organization.
