Essay

Mathematical model for small sailing craft is developed describing surge, sway, yaw and roll under the influence of hydro- and aerodynamic forces and moments. Methods for identification hydro- and aerodynamic properties of their hulls, appendages and sailing rigs are worked out. Algorithm for maneuvers parameters calculation is introduced. Numerical simulation for typical sailing craft maneuvers is performed, criteria for small craft controllability is proposed.
