Research object is the V.V. Veresaev novel "In a deadlock" and epic a I.S. Shmelev "Sun of dead"; purpose of work – on the basis of comparative analysis of the V.V. Veresaev novel "In a deadlock" and epics I.S. Shmelev "Sun of dead" to find out a originality of relation of each of writers to the events of civil war and to define the features of the artistic facilities used by them; methods of work is descriptive, system-structural. The theoretical and practical value of researches consists in expansion of existent pictures of possibilities of application of comparative method. Can be drawn on results historian of Russian literature. Novelty of work: the analysis of epic is first carried out a I.S. Shmelev "Sun of dead" and a new reading of the V.V. Veresaev novel "In a deadlock" is offered on principle . Sphere of the use - in the special courses of history of Russian literature.
