Object – main structural members of GTE and power plants having cracks under extremely loading conditions; aim - a development of a method of forecasting a critical state of structural parts with cracks; methods -analytical calculation, finite element method, comparison of failure facts with the experimental results; innovation -it is substantiated that the deepest crack is not obligatory considered a critical one, that a failure resistance should be ensured by using a strength criterion of cracks initiation; results -a procedure of prognostication of conditions resulted in occurring critical situations is developed; implemented at a machine-building enterprise; field -machine-building industry.
