Litvinova M. Semantic Peculiarities of Phraseological Units with the Meaning of Human Character Features (in the German Language of the 19-20th centuries)

The object of the research is phraseological units of the German language, which are incorporated with the general meaning of the human character features. The aim of the research is establishing of semantic properties of German phraseological units with the meaning of human character features in diachronic and synchronic aspects by defining the main mechanisms of formation and development of phraseological semantics during the 19-20th centuries, and their distributive connections. The methods of the research are method of linguistic description, method of the component analysis, method of sociolinguistic analysis, valence-distributive analysis, elements of the quantitative analysis. Theoretical results and novelty: for the first time the specification of formation mechanisms realization of phraseological units with the meaning of human character features is revealed, peculiarities of the cultural paradigm influence of the German society on the formation of these phraseological units are described; implicit and contextual valence of phraseological units under analysis are defined; ties between semantic and structural-semantic modifications of phraseological units under analysis and changes in their valence in speech realization are determined. The sphere of application: lexicology and lexicography.
