Essay

Results of diagnosis and treatment of 93 patients with esophageal injuries from all causes have been analysed. Detalis of clinical picture, diagnostics and treatment of several types of esophageal injuries have been studied. Indications for diagnostic methods have been established and a diagnostic flow-chart has been ellaborated. Details of operative technique depending on esophageal wall status and time interval from the injury have been precised. Criteria of non-operative management of esophageal injuries have been proposed.
