The aim of the study was to assess the antianginal efficacy monotherapy of trimetazidine, of atenolol and combination trimetazidine and atenolol in stable angina pectoris after myocardial infarction and non-insulin dependent diabetes. Trimetazidine improved anginal symptoms and exercise stress test results with excellent tolerability. The three-week therapy with trimetazidine and atenolol produced modulating effect on left ventricular diastolic function wich depended on the type of its primary disturbance and on the type of diastolic dysfunction. In the patients with "slowed relaxation type of diastolic dysfunction increased of peak velocity of early transmitral diastolic flow and E/A increased too. It was not changes in the patients with "pseudo normal" and "restrictive" type of transmitral bloodstream. Use trimetazidine and atenolol was associated with decrease of volume of left ventricular, but injection fraction did not change. Antianginal effects of therapy of trimetazidine and positive influenceson the diastolic dysfunction redused, when patients in descraibed groups finished to take the trimetazidine.
