Object of the study: benign ovarian tumors, retention tumor-like formations and inflammatory diseases mimicking them. Purpose of the study: To improve the efficacy of diagnosis and differential diagnosis of benign tumors, retention tumor-like for-mations and inflammatory diseases mimicking them basing on op-timizing a complex use of USS and MRI. Methods of the study: Complex transabdominal and transvaginal USS of the small pelvis, MRI of the small pelvis, IEA of onco-marker CA-125 concentration in the blood serum, histological, biochemical studies, statistical methods of evaluation of the find-ings significance. Practical significance of the obtained results: Consists in sys-tematization of US and MR signs of benign tumors, retention tu-mor-like formations and inflammatory diseases mimicking them, determining the indications to MRI basing on the signs revealed by USS. The protocols of differential diagnostic US- and MR-studies of benign voluminous formations can be useful in the work of departments ofultrasound diagnosis and magnetic resonance imaging. The diagnostic complex which includes USS and MRI is not associated with radiation load which is especially important at investigation of the women of reproductive age. High accuracy of sonography and MRI allows to refuse using invasive diagnostic procedures or avoid unjustified surgery. Novelty of the obtained results: Basing on the analysis of the physical principles of forming medical diagnostic images, indications to the use of USS and MRI at voluminous ovarian benign formations were substantiated scientifically. Comparison of intensities of MR signals on T1 and T2 weighted images with those of referential structures (fat, myometrium, urine) allowed to determine objective differential diagnostic criteria of benign tumors, retention inflammatory diseases and tuboovarian inflammatory diseases, which can be used both at work with low-field and high-field imagers. Introduction: The findings of the research were introduced tot he work of City Clinical Maternity Hospital with an in-patient department for neonates (Kharkiv), Clinical Specialized Maternity Hospital No. 5 (Kharkiv), Clinical Maternity Hospital No. 7 (Kharkiv), Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital. Sphere of application: medicine, obstetrics and gynecology.
