Poltorakov O. European Political Integration in Modern Civilization System.

In the dissertation it is made use of civilization approach in political analysis of European integration. It is impossible to examine those issues in isolation from the processes of New-European-Northern-American civilization and "European Idea" development. The idea is based on civilization unity and passes through all European history. Nation-states are united with European identity and common values. The last expansion of EU and NATO from the civilization point of view is objective. NATO can be thought as an element of system with military-political co-operation functions in all-civilization dimension, while EU - within the framework of European element of the civilization. Discrepancy between civilization identity and willingness to become a member of international organization responsible for political co-operation in the field of the civilization is observed in EU relations with Turkey and particularly with Russia and Ukraine.
