Krasulya T. Economic and biological evaluation of new apple cultivars under the conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine

3.29 varieties and hybrid forms of the apple tree of different ecologi-cal and geographical groups including 11 of the M.F. Sydorenko Institute of Irrigated Fruit Growing (IIFG) of the UAAS' selection are the subject of investigation. The objective of investigations was to single out varieties adapted to the conditions of the southern steppe of the Ukraine which would completely meet the require-ments of present-day fruit growing and could considerably improve the regionalized assortment. The investigation methods are field, laboratory, laboratory and field, statistical. The scientific novelty consists in the determination of the biological potential of varieties and hybrid forms, new introduced and developed at the IIFG of the UAAS, as regards yield, drought resistance and frost hardiness, fun-gous diseases resistance, market quality of fruits, main jrganic sub-stances content of them. The group of apple varieties for growing in the southern steppe of the Ukraine by modern intensive technologies was singled out. The branch is fruit growing.
