The thesis provides a complex analysis of the constitutional and legal status of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. It demonstrates that the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is a single regional, representative, collective, electoral, unicameral legislature in the system of self-government in Ukraine that represents the interests of residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and settles on their behalf the issues of local and regional importance within the frameworks of the Constitution, Ukrainian laws and the Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. A comparative description of the constitutional and legal status of autonomous formations and their representative bodies in unitary countries of the world and the constitutional models of territorial structure of Ukraine is given.
