The choice and actuality is grounded in the thesis in connection with the problems of developing English-speaking students competency in grammar at the elementary level of teaching Russian as a foreign language; the methods of teaching foreign students the grammar category of verb are presented. The psychological and psycholinguistic peculiarities of mastering Russian as a foreign language are described; cognitive-comparative analysis of grammar aspect is conducted both in Russian and English.
