Essay

The object of the research is the subsystem of noun confixal word - formation in Ukrainian, fulfilled with the help of formants with materially non-expressed second component, from the beginning of its development till its contemporary state. The objective of the research is a description of the evolution of the sub-system of Ukreinian noun confixal word formation, which is fulfilled with the help of materially non-txpressed second component. The methods: comparative-historical, descriptive, method of component analysis. The scientific novelty of the dissertation lies in the first attempt in Ukrainian linguistics to carry a complex diachronic-synchronic description of a system of confixal nouns, formed with the help of the morphemes with materially non-expressed second component. The theoretical significance of the research: the main statements of the dissertation and the achieved results enable to widen and deepen the modern idea of formation of the noun derivation subsystem, the evolution of means and ways of noun-building, the nature of confix as a special two- or three-united formant. The practical significance of the achieved results: the materials of the research can be used in preparation of fundamental words on the Ukrainian language history, word-building, morphemics, making up manuals and textbooks, in lexicographic practice, in university and school linguodidactics.
