The dissertation is concerned with theoretical and experimental investigations of the process of the formation of artistic tastes of the basic school pupils during the study of Ukrainian literature of our own country.The research substantiates the criteria and levels of pupils' artistic tastes forms, presents theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested methodical system of artistic tastes formation of the basic school pupils through the means of the literary regional studies.The suggested methodics is conducive to the development of pupils' research skills as well as their ability to appraise and analyse a work of art and to perceive the works and reality aesthetically; it evokes a great interest in literature and forms the ability to choose the works of high artistic and aesthetical value as reading materials.
