Gumentyk M. Increase of productivity of chicory crop and reduction of root losses at harvesting

The thesis deals with problems of increasing productivity of chicory crop and perfecting the technological process of root harvesting on the basis of studies and optimization of agrophysical properties of chicory roots. In the theses, major factors which influence yield and quality of the harvested produce are specified. Analytical dependences between dimension-mass parameters of chicory roots and regularities of chicory plant distribution in rows depending on density of their planting are established which give a possibility to increase the efficiency of chicory growing. On the basis of results of studying agrophysical properties of chicory, agrotechnical methods were worked out and suggested for practical use, which will guarantee yield increase and reduction of root losses at harvesting. Main results of the research have been implemented in perfection of the methods of growing and harvesting chicory roots, in working out starting requirements for a root harvester.
