Essay

Object – the process of growth and development of plants, formation of yielding capacity and quality of belladonna products in the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine depending on the reproduction method, timing and method of sowing, use of biologically active substances. Objective – research of the biological features of growth and development of Atropa belladonna L. for the purpose of optimizing the elements of the growing practice of the crop and its adaptability in the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine in order to provide the pharmaceutical industry with a stable raw material resource base. Methods – laboratory, mass variation, field, statistical, mass comparative. For the first time: the special features of ontogenesis of belladonna plants have been established, which made it possible to reveal the mechanisms of their morphological and physiological adaptation to growing conditions; the dependence of special features of growth and development of plants, yielding capacity and quality of raw materials on elements of the growing practice has been established: timing and methods of sowing, seeding rates; special features of the formation of the quality of bio raw materials by the content of alkaloids in the agro-climatic conditions of the Forest-Steppe Zone have been determined; the diversity of belladonna fruits and seeds has been researched in order to improve the quality of seeds and to increase the yielding capacity; the methods of the crop reproduction in the conditions of the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine have been improved: by seeds (directly into the soil) and seedlings, effective biological products have been established to limit the development and spread of diseases of belladonna; the content of inorganic elements and the level of their translocation in the organs of belladonna plants have been determined. Practical importance – The practice of growing belladonna in the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine has been developed on the basis of optimization of the methods of reproduction, timing and seeding rates, application of growth stimulants. The main results of the research were implemented in 2016-2019 in farms in Kyiv, Volyn and Cherkasy regions. Area of use – agricultural production.
