Dmitrenko T. Increasing ecological safety of spring waters use on the example of the Kharkiv region

The subject is degradation of spring water quality in urban areas. The aim is scientific substantiation the possibility of environmentally safe use of spring waters in urban areas for drinking. The methods of research are the chemical, bacteriological and physical methods for spring water quality estimation . Theoretical and practical results: environmental aspects of spring flow formation on the territories of urban agglomerates were revealed and the possibility of environmentally safe use of spring waters in urban areas for drinking was scientifically substantiated. Application of the proposed measures along with improvement of spring water quality will give a possibility to increase environmental safety in spring water use. Novelty: a technique for monitoring of spring water quality was worked out, three functional strata into urban underground hydrosphere were identified, a technique for estimation of size of spring sanitary protection zones within the limits of urban areas with the use of a balance model was developed, conceptual approach to the decision-making on environmentally safe use of spring waters was proposed. Level of introduction: the results of research was applied under development of the programs on accomplishment of springs for creation of favourable hydrogeological condition and prevention of underground waters pollution. Scope of use: the municipal economy of Ukraine.
