Buk S. Lexical Base of Ukrainian Language: Selection and System-Structural Organization

An original method for Lexical base of the Ukrainian language (LBUL) selection is elaborated. Its main criteria are frequency and functional style prevalence. In practice LBUL was selected from the corpus of 1,700,000 word occurrences. The first-range vocabulary from frequency dictionaries of the colloquial, belles-lettres, journalistic, scientific and official styles was compared by formal way. The LBUL composition was uncovered in intra- and inter-lexeme, intra- and inter-group relation. The 16 inter-part-semantic gield in LBUL cover in general all the most important fields of reality. This fact gives a possibility to consider LBUL as a compressed lexical level of the Ukrainian language. The results can be used in educational process, in scientific work.
