Essay

Thesis presents theoretical, methodological fundamentals of regional development in the context of regional policy. Regional development theories, best practices in EU countries are analysed. Comparative analysis of socio-economic development of old industrial regions in UK and Ukraine and policy as for them was performed. Polish experience was used to illustrate the possibilities of transfer of EU lessons, recommendations for improvement of Ukrainian regional policy were made.
