Katysh T. Peculiarities of terminological vocabulary function in the science fiction's language.

Object is the terminological vocabulary in the science fiction of Ukrainian authors. The aim is the linguistic analysis of terminological vocabulary in the science fiction of Ukrainian authors. Methods of the linguistic description, comparative, component analysis, quantitative characteristic. The main features of terminological vocabulary are characterised. The main ways of using terminology as stylistic means are outlined. Conception of science fiction is defined. In the present work the history of Ukrainian science fiction is analysed, the main modern representatives of this genre are named. In the modern Ukrainian science fiction the terminology is used in the direct and in the figurative meaning. Semantics of terms used in the nominal function depends on author's individual viewpoint on their usage. The terms of various branches of science and technics are analysed. Meaning of special terms is explained in foot-notes, in brackets, in inverted commas. The correlation of widely used and special terms has changed. Most terms have become common words. Different kinds of terms of Ukrainian science fiction are in the various stages of using in a literary language. The terminology used in Ukrainian science fiction are presented by the following types: derivative and underivative terms, terms-composites, terms-abbreviations, combinations of words, words-symbols. Sphere of use is the training courses.
