Essay

The purpose of research was to improve usage of selective beta-adrenoblockers metoprolol and bisoprolol in patients with moderate and severe chronic heart failure (CHF) on the basis of comparison of their tolerability and efficiency depending on age and presence of atrial fibrillation. It was established that tolerability of beta-adrenoblockers, as well as rate of achievement of target dosages of the drugs depended on age. Target dosages of metoprolol and bisoprolol were reached more often by patients of young age; elderly patients reached target dosages of bisoprolol easier. The initial levels of blood pressure and serum content of noradrenaline are probable predictors of the achievement of target dosages of beta-adrenoblockers. No significant difference of dynamics of clinical and functional parameters depending on background rhythm of heart was revealed. Positive clinical and hemodynamic effects of metoprolol and bisoprolol didn't depend on etiology of CHF.
