Thesis for a candidate degree in geographical sciences, speciality 11.00.11 - constructive geography and rational use of natural resources. - Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko, Kyiv, 2005. Generalised are major approaches to researching suburban areas. Theoretical and methodological bases of their investigation, particularly the influence of natural and social developments on their formation are extended. Suburban areas are treated as complex paragenetic systems. Stages of Vinnytsia's suburban area formation and development are well grounded. Their current structure is researched by means of analysing 8 classes of anthropologic landscapes. Suggested and substantiated are ways of improving the use of Vinnytsia's suburban landscapes. Forecasts as to their development up to 2050 are suggested.
