Essay

In the thesis the peculiar properties of the Cyril and Methodius tradition and its philosophical and ideologycal foundations have been revealed. The impact of the Cyril and Methodius tradition on the forming the national self-consciousness of the ukrainian nation during cultural and national revival in the XVI - first half of the XVII c. have been considered. The assertion of the ukrainian national idea in the context of the development of the Cyril and Methodius tradition have been substantiated. The assertion of the Christianity of the Byzantine rite as a specific manifestation of the Cyril and Methodius tradition in the prince's epoch have been analyzed.
