The object: the formation process of the educational and cognitive activity motives of students in higher educational establishments; the aim: to prove scientifically and experimentally the pedagogical conditions of students’ motives of educational and cognitive activity formation in higher educational establishments pertaining to the humanities; methods: theoretical (the analysis of literature, classification, systematisation, synthesizing); empirical (the observation, questionnaire design, interviews, the pedagogical experiment); novelty: working out of the pedagogical conditions of students’ motives of educational and cognitive activity formation in higher educational establishments pertaining to the humanities; results: the programmes and educational tasks for the course “English language” and methodical recommendations for teachers are worked out.
