Essay

On the basis of little known sources, the dissertation investigates systematically the creative heritage of Ivan Yerofeyiv, interprets the artistic originality of his prose works, outlines the theoretical-ethical background of the scholar's activities as a critic, specialist in folklore and writer and determines the concept of the development of Ukrainian literature and folklore suggested by the researcher. The analysis of the specific thematic-ideological and genre-stylistic character of the story "Oleksa Dovbush" allows to determine the role Ivan Yerofeyiv played in Ukrainian literary process in the first half of the XX century as a creative person.
