Shaiko O. Feasibility study of the efficient development of oil-bearing crop production

Object of research: production of oil crops and products of their processing at farm enterprises in Cherkasy oblast, and processes which occur in oil subcomplex of the region. Goal of research: thorough examination of theoretical, methodological, organizational and economic aspects of functioning and efficient development of oil crop production, identification and substantiation of the directions of its further development. Methods: abstract and logical, monographic, calculation and construction, correlation and regression methods, comparison, elimination technique, index analysis, grouping, economic and mathematical modeling, project analysis and graphic technique. Theoretical and practical results: The results of the research contribute to further development of the existing theoretical and methodological as well as applied principles regarding the increase in the efficiency of oil crop production at farm enterprises. Practical importance of the research is in determining research based directions ofthe efficient development of oil crop production in the region; optimizing the structure of seed production of oil crops in regard to their types; substantiating the output of soy bean production and processing to avoid the deficit of feed proteins; determining investment amount and return on investments for construction of enterprises to produce biodiesel; and creating zones of concentrated rape production. Research novelty: methodological approaches to economic evaluation of the efficiency of oil crop production are enhanced, methodology to calculate integral index of total efficiency is improved; the importance of the branch in the context of food as well as energy and environment safety of the country is theoretically substantiated and generalized, the necessity to produce biodiesel in the region is proved; block economic and mathematical model to optimize oil crop production is worked out; the expediency to expand soy bean production and organize its processing at farm enterprises in the region is economically grounded; for the first time strategy of efficient development of the branch on the basis of optimizing the structure of oil crop production and directions of the utilization in individual subzones in the region is worked out; for the first time zones are determined of concentrated and developed rape production to provide the enterprises which produce biodiesel with raw materials, a scheme to use rape seed and products of rape processing is developed; investment amount for construction of enterprises to produce biodiesel is determined, and the evaluation of return on investment and efficiency is conducted. Degree of introduction: research results are introduced by the Main Board of Food and Agriculture of Cherkasy Oblast Administration, farm "Zoria"; they are also used in teaching-learning process at Uman State Agrarian University. Efficiency: research results form a strategy of efficient development of oil crop production. Field of application: enterprises of agri-industrial complex.
