The thesis for gaining a candidate of medical sciences degree in speciality 14.01.30 - anesthesiology and intensive care. - Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine named after P.L. Shupik, Kyiv, 2005.The thesis is devoted to anesthetic management of surgical treatment of extracranial internal carotid artery diseases. Clinical, functional and biochemical investigations were performed to augment the efficacy of these operations. More detailed study of anesthetic risk factors, namely general internal diseases with deviations of rheological blood properties, was proposed. For correction of these abnormalities the author developed and introduced effective infusion programs using derivatives of hydrohyethyl starch (HES 200/0,5 - 6%) /Refortan/ and phenylalkylamine calcium ion influx blocker verapamil.Introduction of anesthetic management algorithms allow to improve the results of operative treatment for patients with brain ischemia caused by extracranial internal carotid artery diseases.
