Grinzovskiy A. A systematical analysis of the formation and development of a faculty of preventive medicine and hygienical science of Bogomolets National Medical University

The thesis is devoted to the research of the formation and development of the preventive trend in national medicine, of higher medical education in Ukraine on the basis of systematical analysis of the preventive medicine faculty of Bogomolets National Medical University. It is a historical model of the formation of a skilled staff potential and preventive activity of hygienical science and sanitation and epidemiology service of Ukraine. A systematical analysis of the formation and development of hygienical disciplines as a part of Saint Vladimir University, medical faculty of the and sanitation faculty of Kiev Medical Institute (National Medical University) allowed to reproduce 160-years evolutionary path of the educational system of specialists in preventive medicine, and to set the priorities of the Kiev hygienical school in provision sanitation and epidemiology service, to show its scientific and practical significance. It has been demonstrated established, that of a new department at the medical faculty in St. Vladimir University allowed, for the first time in Russia, to unite definite questions of hygiene in the separate hygienical course, which has become the basis for preventive medicine and sanitational supervision. The priority of the Kiev hygienists in making a fundamental system of postgraduate education of doctors-hygienists has been proved a great contribution of the scientists of Bogomolets National Medical University to creating the scientific bases of preventive medicine health care as one of the important tasks of medicine has been a know ledged. Archive and literary sources have been elaborated in order to determine historical and medical features of the formation of the national hygiene science, as were the main stages of the co-operation between society and medical science as a whole were analyzed. Historical stages were isolated and essential principles of formation of the curriculum of hygienical disciplines at a high medical school as exemplified by Bogomolets National Medical University were defined, as well as the systems of education of doctors-hygienists, as a part of the higher medical education in Ukraine of different historical stages. The analysis of scientific and educational activity of the scientists-hygienists of Bogomolets National Medical University allowed to define the main directions of activity of the hygienical scientific schools in Bogomolets National Medical University and to characterize there main scientific and practical significance, their influence on the formation of skilled human resource potential of scientific hygienical establishments belonging to the system of the Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine, describe national sanitation and epidemiology service in its historical development. Allowed to consider Bogomolets National Medical University as a leading establishment of hygienic education and science, in Ukraine. The conducted researches allowed to generalize the existing knowledge from history of the development of the hygienic science in Ukraine (as illustrated by the example of Bogomolets National Medical University) and show that the mastery of this knowledge is a means of a comprehensive training and education of doctors and scientists-hygienists, and a necessary component in creating a sense of responsibility while making decisions in the professional activity of a doctor.
