Kopchak O. Mechanisms and features of fatigue in the patients with multiple sclerosis, methods of diagnostics and treatment

The dissertation deals with special clinical features of fatigue in the patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) depending on the demographic and clinical parameters of the disease. The mechanisms of fatigue development are established in the work. According to the data of clinical, MRI and electrophysiological studies fatigue has been established in the cases of multiple demyelinization of the brain structures; the disorders of neurophysiologic processes in the sensorimotor brain cortex were found in the patients with fatigue. The relationship between fatigue and oxidative-antioxidant misbalance has been established in the work. The objective criteria of fatigue have been proposed by means of structured questionnaire rating scales. A new method of treatment of the patients with MS and fatigue with antioxidant and neuroprotective therapy has been worked out. This method is pathogenically substantiated, allowing to decrease the fatigue severity, to stop the progression of neurological disturbances and tonormalize oxidative-antioxidant misbalance in the patients with MS.
