Barsukov I. Creating initial material for breeding of maize early hybrids grown for grain

Object: breeding maize for grain. Aim: to choose effective methods of breeding for developing ultraearly and early-maturing original material in maize for grain use. Methods: breeding - field, laboratory, math-statistical. Novelty: there have been developed some optimal designs for breeding ultraoarly and early-maturing lines of grain maize; there has been established the complex of their selection-valuable traits. Results: there have been created 166 self-pollinated lines possessing sane economical traits. Application stage: 30 lines have been employed in the breeding programs of the Plant Production Institute nd.a. V.Ya. Yurjev, UAAN, From these 12 lines have been used in the programs of the Grain Farming Institute, UAAN; 12 self-pollinated lines have been sent to the Ustimovka Experimental Station of the Plant Production Institute, UAAN; 6 lins have been included into the collection of the National Centre for Plant Genetic Presources of Ukraine.
