Pavlova I. Word as a semantic-functional unit in the structure of the Ukrainian sermon

The author investigates the lexical and semantic structure of church speeches: determines the lexical means, which are one of the main components of serman units. The main objectives of the thesis are: to characterize the peculiarities of the terms in text building; to ascertain the semantic and functional features of lexical antonymy, synonymy, polysemy; to analyse the distinctive features of manifestations of general linguistic and contextual syntagmatic connections in serman language; to discover the semantic-functional possibilites of paraphrases symbols; to motivate the role of background information and vertical context in understanding the substance of a symbolic word.
