Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of raising the language proficiency of the Russian-speaking and bilingual students of Pedagogical educational establishments by the method of training translation, and forming their culture of professional Ukrainian language on its basis. In the dissertation the educational capacities of Russian-Ukrainian translation are explored, its theoretical, lingustic, psychologic and psycholinguistic foundations are grounded, the principles of teaching and optimum conditions of the use of this kind of work during mastering the second closely-allied language are defined, the system of the work on translation, which implies its introduction into many forms of students' learning activities is created (special course, fragments of its use when teaching linguistical disci-plines, research and educational work with the students), the complex of exercises in dif-ferent types of training translation is offered, the great effectiveness of this method in raising the language proficiency of Russian-speaking and bilingual students is proved.
