Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction role in the change of structural and functional properties of the left heart ventricular in hypertensive patients and their corrections by carvedilol. With increase of hypertension degree and remodeling of the heart and vessels the progressive level increase of the oxidative stress and nitrates excretion decrease in the blood serum has been stated. These processes reach maximum in the patients with concentric hypertrophy of the left ventricular and the 3-rd degree of hypertension. The correlation analysis shows the significance of the oxidative stress in remodeling of the left ventricular myocardium and resistant vessels. Treatment by carvedilol is associated with the blood pressure decrease, significant reduction of the left ventricular mass index, the decrease of oxidative stress and nitrates excretion increase. Favorable changes of remodeling of the peripheral vessels and endothelium-dependent vasodilatation also occurs.
