Object: euphemisms and disphemisms as functional specialized areal phraseologizms of eastern Ukrainian; the aim: to expose the peculiarities of formation and functioning of euphemistic and disphemistic areal phra-seological units, to determine their place in a wide field of ukrainian phraseology of eastern Ukraine; methods: description, comparison, factological; novelty: the matter of euphemistic and disphemistic processes as phraseo-creative factors have been considered for the first time, correlation of euphemistic and disphemistic expressions within one semantic field has been analyzed, the old and the modern spheres of taboo have been singled out; re-sults: ideographically systematized material for compila-tion of the areal dictionary of euphemisms.
