Objects of investigation are rats with experimental diabetic peripheral polyneuropathy (EDPP), induced streptozotocin (STZ); target is study of pathogenetic role of the nitric oxide (NO) in conditions of STZ - induced diabetic polyneuropathy as well as its experimental treatment scheme performance using compounds that block NO synthesis; there are pathophysiologycal, biochemical, electrophysiologycal, statistics methods; novelty and results - it was shown, that STZ - induced EDPP characterizes by as nitrates and nitrites blood content progressive accumulation as NO metabolites, glucose blood of rats progressive increase, decrease of rats body weight and nerve conductance indexes normalization, increase of lipoperoxidation intermediate products level in blood and pancreas parenchyma, and decrease of antioxidant enzymes activity in blood and pancreas parenchyma, it was shown, that both curing and prophylactic efficacy use substances, that blocking NO synthesis and STZ - induced EDPP main manifestation annihilate, are experimental grounds of use this substances in curing and prophylactic actions complex for diabetic polyneuropathy and diabetus mellitus in clinics; introduced in treatment and prophylactic institution practice of Odessa region, Kiev, Sevastopol, Odessa state medical university learn process; using area is treatment and diagnostic process of endocrinological departments, pedagogic process in medical learn institutions
