Essay

The dissertation deals with a study of the role of the pineal gland in regulating the Moon’s rhythms of the renal activity in health as well as in sublimate intoxication of the organism. It has been established for the first time that the functional-biochemical parameters of the renal activity are characterized by a strongly pronounced periodicity according to changes of the phases of the Moon. Changes of the photoperiod (steady illumination, steady darkness) disturb the integral parameters of the chronorhythms of the renal function under study. Sublimate neuropathy has proved to bring about sufficient changes in the parameters of the Moon’s rhythms of the excretory, ion-regylating and acid-excreting function of the kidneys, as well as fibrinolysis and proteolysis in the urine, blood plasma and renal cortex. It has been shown that the chronorhythmologic effects of sublimate intoxication depend on the functional activity of the pineal gland.
